Maingear Ultima 18 Launches as a Titan of Gaming Laptops

Powerhouse 18-inch gaming laptop features RTX 5090, 192GB RAM, and Thunderbolt 5 ports

Maingear has officially entered the 18-inch gaming laptop arena with the release of its Ultima 18 — a high-performance powerhouse engineered for serious gamers and creators alike. This massive machine doesn’t hold back, offering up to a mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, and staggering expandability in both memory and storage.

The Ultima 18 comes with up to 192GB of DDR5 RAM and supports four M.2 NVMe SSDs, some of which are reportedly PCIe Gen 5 capable. These specs place the laptop in rare territory, rivaling and in some areas outperforming alternatives like MSI’s Crosshair 18 HZ AI, which tops out with an RTX 5070.

The laptop’s 18-inch 3840×2400 matte IPS display supports a 200Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy, making it a top-tier screen for both gaming and color-critical work. While it doesn’t feature miniLED technology, Maingear stated that traditional IPS panels provide better performance alignment with the RTX 5090 mobile GPU.

On the connectivity front, the Ultima 18 boasts dual Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A ports, a microSD slot, and dual 2.5Gbit Ethernet jacks — an unusually generous networking setup. Wireless connectivity is equally modern, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Constructed in partnership with Clevo, the Ultima 18 includes a metal lid and palm rest, giving it a premium and durable build. Weighing in at a hefty 8.8 pounds, this is not a portable laptop by any stretch — although Maingear says it will fit inside a backpack. Powering all this is a 98Wh battery and a “backpack-friendly” 330W charger. For more convenience, USB-C charging is available in less power-hungry situations.

Maingear also included Sound Blaster Studio Pro 2 audio with two tweeters, two drivers, and a built-in subwoofer. The system ships clean, free of bloatware, and comes with Maingear’s Control Center software for system tuning and monitoring.

Pricing for the Ultima 18 starts at $3,599, with fully loaded configurations likely pushing far beyond that. With desktop-grade performance in a semi-portable form factor, the Maingear Ultima 18 is clearly aimed at enthusiasts who demand nothing short of extreme power and performance.
