Microsoft is stepping up its game for business users with the release of its new Surface Copilot+ PCs, set to launch on February 18. The tech giant is introducing two models: the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for Business, both powered by the latest Intel Lunar Lake chips and starting at $1,499.99.
Designed for the modern workplace, these new devices come equipped with 5G connectivity, ensuring reliable internet access, even without nearby Wi-Fi. The Surface Laptop is available in two screen sizes—13.8-inch and 15-inch—offering flexibility to meet diverse work needs. Despite the different display sizes, both models are impressively compact, with the 13.8-inch version measuring just 0.69 inches thick, while the 15-inch variant is 0.72 inches. Microsoft promises impressive battery life with up to 22 hours for local video playback and 14 hours of active web use, though actual performance will vary.
For users seeking a more versatile option, the Surface Pro for Business is also on offer. This model comes as a 13-inch tablet with options for OLED or LCD displays. It boasts cutting-edge video conferencing features, including a 1440p ultrawide front-facing camera and a 10-megapixel Ultra HD rear-facing camera. Battery life is slightly shorter than the Surface Laptop, with up to 14 hours of local video playback and 10 hours of active web usage.
One thing to note is that while both devices are geared toward business environments, they are built with robust security in mind. They feature Windows 11 Secured-core PCs and Microsoft Pluton technology, ensuring top-tier protection for sensitive data. The Surface Laptop also integrates an intelligent smart card reader, while the Surface Pro opts for NFC authentication.
However, the Surface Pro for Business does not come bundled with accessories like the Surface Pro Keyboard or Surface Slim Pen, which must be purchased separately. What sets these business devices apart from their consumer-grade counterparts is their enhanced security and compatibility, particularly with legacy software, making them ideal for enterprises that still rely on older programs.
The new Surface Copilot+ series marks a significant upgrade from earlier models, particularly for business customers who require the compatibility and power of an x86_64 processor. These devices promise to deliver productivity, versatility, and security for modern professionals.
