Chennai, India – April 9, 2025 — In a significant boost to India’s electronics manufacturing sector, Dixon Technologies has announced a ₹1,000 crore investment to establish a cutting-edge laptop production facility in Oragadam, near Chennai. The initiative, part of a strategic partnership with global tech giant HP Inc., was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed with the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday.
The upcoming facility will not only serve as a key manufacturing base for HP laptops but is also expected to generate more than 5,000 new jobs in the region, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s growing prominence as a tech manufacturing hub.
Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister, TRB Rajaa, welcomed the collaboration, stating, “We are steadily moving toward our vision of building a $100 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem. Each new facility like this brings us closer to realizing that goal. We are proud to have Dixon and HP joining hands in Tamil Nadu.”
Highlighting the state’s appeal, Rajaa added that Tamil Nadu offers a unique combination of progressive industrial policies, top-tier infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and an efficient business environment — all factors that continue to attract global and domestic investors alike.
This development further cements Tamil Nadu’s position as a frontrunner in India’s Make in India initiative and is expected to inspire more large-scale investments in the region’s electronics sector.
