Huawei MatePad Mini and MateTV Pro Launched

Huawei has launched the compact 8.8-inch MatePad Mini alongside its new MateTV and MateTV Pro smart TVs, expanding its premium device lineup.

Huawei has taken the wraps off its latest hardware innovations, introducing a premium small-form tablet and a new generation of large smart TVs. The Huawei MatePad Mini marks the company’s return to the compact tablet segment, while the MateTV series offers massive display sizes and high-end features for home entertainment.

Huawei MatePad Mini: A Compact Premium Tablet

The Huawei MatePad Mini features an 8.8-inch OLED display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR Vivid certification, and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. A Soft Light variant is available to reduce glare, similar to Huawei’s MatePad Pro line.

Measuring 198.6 x 127.3 x 5.1mm and weighing just 255g, the tablet is powered by HarmonyOS 5.1, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. While Huawei has not disclosed the exact chipset, the device packs strong connectivity options including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and two-way BeiDou satellite messaging.

The tablet houses a 6,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging, promising up to 15.5 hours of video playback. Camera hardware includes a 50MP main + 8MP ultra-wide dual setup on the rear and a 32MP front camera for video calls. Security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, while stereo speakers deliver immersive sound.

Pricing starts at CNY 4,000 ($560) for the 12/256GB version, with the 512GB and Soft Light models costing more. Color options include Obsidian Black, Snow White, and Spruce Green.

Huawei MateTV and MateTV Pro: Bigger is Better

Alongside the tablet, Huawei introduced the MateTV in 65”, 75”, 85”, and 98” sizes, and the MateTV Pro in 75”, 85”, and 98”. Both models run on HarmonyOS with miniLED panels, while the Pro edition adds anti-reflective coating and floating touch support.

The standard MateTV integrates a 2.2-channel, 6-speaker 120W system, whereas the Pro version upgrades to a 3.2.2-channel, 9-speaker setup with 180W peak output. Huawei also introduced multiple control methods including a traditional remote, stylus input, and a gaming-focused touch controller.

Pricing begins at CNY 9,000 ($1,260) for the 65-inch MateTV, climbing up to CNY 31,000 ($4,340) for the 98-inch MateTV Pro.

With these launches, Huawei aims to strengthen its premium hardware ecosystem across both mobile productivity and home entertainment.
