Acer Swift Air 16 Launches: Ultra-Light 16-Inch Laptop

Acer has officially introduced one of the lightest laptops in the world, the Swift Air 16, during its September 3 unveiling in Berlin. The new device weighs under one kilogram, making it even lighter than Apple’s MacBook Air (1.24kg), while still offering a large 16-inch display.

This impressive feat is thanks to a magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis, which delivers both durability and portability. The Swift Air 16 joins Acer’s popular Swift series, targeting professionals who demand performance without being weighed down.

Built for AI and Windows 11

At its core, the Swift Air 16 runs on AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, ranging from the AI 5 330 to the AI 7 350. These chips allow users to run advanced artificial intelligence applications directly on the laptop while maintaining energy efficiency.

The device ships with Windows 11, offering access to Microsoft’s new AI-powered features like Recall, which takes snapshots of your activity to help you retrace steps, and Click to Do, which integrates tasks across apps for better productivity.

With Windows 10 support ending on October 14, 2025, Acer’s latest laptop comes as a timely option for those considering an upgrade.

Performance and Display Options

The Swift Air 16 boasts up to 13 hours of battery life based on video playback tests, making it suitable for long workdays. Startup times are near-instant, and the hardware is designed to handle intensive applications such as video editing and 3D rendering.

Users can choose between two display configurations:

  • WQXGA+ AMOLED (2880×1800): Sharp resolution with vibrant colours, deep blacks, and smooth refresh rates.
  • WUXGA IPS (1920×1200, 60Hz): A more affordable option with extra screen space for multitasking.

Both displays come with a 16:10 aspect ratio for improved vertical workspace.

Connectivity and Security

The Swift Air 16 supports modern connectivity with dual USB Type-C ports, USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI 1.4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4. For security, it features a 2MP infrared camera with a privacy shutter and Windows Hello facial recognition.
