BYD Launches In-House Tablet for Tai 7 SUV

BYD has officially revealed its first fully self-developed tablet, set to debut in the upcoming Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 hybrid SUV. The announcement, made via the company’s Weibo account, marks another step in BYD’s expansion into consumer electronics and deeper integration between vehicles and smart devices.

While technical specifications remain under wraps, BYD confirmed that the tablet will seamlessly connect with the Tai 7’s onboard systems, enabling multi-screen collaboration and offering different modes for various in-car and out-of-car uses. This integration aims to enhance infotainment, navigation, and productivity features for drivers and passengers alike.

The Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7, a more adventure-oriented sibling to the urban-focused Tai 3 EV, officially began production this week, with the first units rolling off the assembly line. The SUV is expected to launch in Q4 this year, bringing BYD’s latest hybrid technology and now its custom-built tablet to market.

BYD’s move follows a growing trend among Chinese automakers to develop in-house consumer electronics. Xiaomi has already integrated its tablets with the SU7 sedan and YU7 fastback, Huawei connects its mobile tech to Aito models, and Nio has launched two smartphone generations—though recent reports indicate Nio may halt further phone development due to financial constraints.

Beyond its role as a leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, BYD is also a major contract producer for global consumer electronics brands, including Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Honor. The new tablet underscores the company’s strategy to vertically integrate hardware and software for a more connected driving experience.
